Kelag International strengthens its solar portfolio in Italy with eight new PV projects

Kelag International is further expanding its solar activities in Italy with the acquisition of eight photovoltaic projects. Primarily located in Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, the projects have a total planned capacity of approximately 64.4 MWp and expected annual production of around 107 GWh. Seven projects are ready to build, while one is at an advanced stage of development. 
 
The acquisition further strengthens Italy as one of Kelag International’s key growth markets and expands its photovoltaic pipeline with well-advanced projects. “Solar energy is an important pillar of our growth strategy, and Italy is a market with strong potential for further renewable development,” said Ingo Preiss, Managing Director of Kelag International. “With this acquisition, we are adding well-advanced PV projects to our pipeline and further strengthening our position in a market where we already have strong local expertise and an established presence.” 
 
Following the signing of the agreement, Kelag International will take responsibility for further developing the projects, bringing them through construction and into operation. The projects are expected to be built over the coming years, adding new renewable generation capacity and supporting Italy’s energy transition. “With Eridano, we have secured a portfolio of well-advanced projects that fits our investment criteria and long-term growth ambitions,” said Romeo Reichenhauser, Functional Head of M&A at Kelag International. “The transaction builds on our successful cooperation with JUWI and reflects our focus on acquiring high-quality renewable energy assets with clear execution visibility.”
 
A distinctive feature of the projects is their agrivoltaic design, combining renewable electricity generation with continued agricultural land use. By working closely with local partners, we support regional value creation while ensuring that renewable energy development remains aligned with local needs and land use. “Agrivoltaics are an important aspect of these projects,” said Sebastjan Rozman, Country Manager Italy at Kelag International. “They reflect the kind of development we want to pursue: projects that are technically robust, commercially viable and developed with long-term sustainability and the local context in mind.” 
 
The acquisition also reflects Kelag International's integrated approach to renewable energy — from identifying and acquiring high-quality projects through development and construction to long-term operation and energy commercialisation. Together with its existing activities in Italy, the new projects strengthen Kelag International's position as a long-term renewable energy partner with the expertise and local presence to develop and operate projects across the entire renewable value chain.
